Losing weight with a simple sacrifice

A short story about losing weight.

My sister’s best friend was overweight but not obese. One day, she realized that she was “fat” (not in the cute chubby sort of way) and wanted to lose weight.

She asked my sister, “Why didn’t you tell me I was fat and that I should lose weight? You’re my best friend, you’re supposed to be honest about these things!

To which my sister replied, “Well, AL was bigger and  fatter than you, so I thought you were normal and average.

Anyways, my sister’s friend looked over her average  intake of food and decided to stop eating ice cream. That was the only change to her normal diet and exercise.

She lost 20 pounds in 6 months.

But the story doesn’t stop there. Previously, she was eating 1 pint of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream every day right before she went to bed. So by cutting that out, she was removing over 500+ calories from her daily caloric intake.

Now, she’s adding some exercise to tone up her muscles and eating healthier to keep her diminished figure.

And to think it all started with giving up ice cream.

  1. Small changes definitely make a difference. Not everyone can handle big changes, so doing it little by little is awesome. Congrats to your sister’s friend! That’s awesome 🙂

  2. A pint a day adds up. I’m thinking of cutting out my usual two desserts a day, I’m hoping it’ll make a difference. Ice-cream is at the top of my list too.

  3. I think sugar is just one of the worst things out there. Sure, it’s okay to have in moderation and on occasion, but it is the main thing I gave up in my diet and I’ve lost 50 pounds so far. Sure, I also added whole wheat, exercise and some other changes, but I think that cutting out the sugar was the big factor.

As much as I love chocolate, I try to cut down to 1 piece a week if that, just when I get the craving. And when I do eat it, it’s dark chocolate.

I can’t remember the last time I had ice cream… I think it was my daughter’s birthday.
